1- Complex Integration Between SAP and Third Party Legacy Systems
Electronic Orders Confirmation and Electronic Invoices generation-OIO format (AUTOMATECALLY)
Introduction
In one of biggest service industry in Europe, there is a General Track and Trace legacy system and every day there were more than two hundreds barcodes used to get scanned. The business requirement was to transfer all the barcodes information in R/3 side and convert into corresponding sales orders items. These sales orders used for sending electronic orders confirmation to the customers and also used to send Invoices to customer in the form of Electronic Invoice (OIO) and also in the printed forms.

Features
The legacy system is designed in a way that it will collect all the scanned barcodes at certain stage and all these scanned barcodes will store in MQ. The XI system in this case picks the data from MQs and does some conversion. The final converted data will go into Z-table in R/3 backend using the complex ABAP proxy. The ABAP proxy will further format the data in specific fashion so that SAP system able to process those data. This process will repeat many times in each day and all the data will be collected in Z-table. Furthermore there are many control tables in SAP R/3 side which used to map data from legacy system to SAP R/3 master data. The control table designed in such a way that only one transaction can access all the table and link logically to other tables. The data in control table will control the behaviour of the complex program. These control tables provide some sort of extra flexibility to cope any change in future at business side without changing the complex program.
The Z- Program run each night at pre-defined time and read all records in z-tables (more than 200 thousands records) and try to create the sales orders. Since volume of data is huge, the program will smartly create the multiple sessions which run parallel. During processing of data the program will do lot of validation based on control tables entries and convert all the data in SAP R/3 data format.
Finally all the records will be used to create the sales orders. During this process if the wrong data are found, then data will simply put into application log. The end user will monitor the application log and based on log the actual data will be corrected and in next run the sales orders will be created.
Using output determination procedure the sales order processing program will trigger the special type of interface which sends sales order data with prices to third party tools. This third party tool sends data to customer as an electronics orders confirmation.
During invoice process all the invoice data send to customer using another complex interface in the form of Electronics Invoice (OIO format) or Print format. The print format will also be stored in content server, linking to original invoice documents numbers.
